Frequently asked questions
Clear answers about Halves.
Shared tasks, AI capture, widgets, privacy, reminders, watch support, and the details people usually ask before installing.
Getting started
Halves is a shared task and list app for two-person life. Use it with a partner, roommate, parent, colleague, or by yourself.
Yes. Start solo, create tasks and lists, then invite someone from your group card when you are ready.
Open your group card or Settings, choose the invite option, and share the code or link with your partner.
Tasks, lists, reminders
Yes. Open a task and ask Halves to suggest ordered subtasks. You can keep, edit, or discard each step. Real subtasks track progress on the parent task.
Yes. Add more than one reminder to a task when it needs several nudges: for example the night before, the morning of, and one hour before.
Yes. Halves supports up to two encrypted task photos per task, useful for receipts, labels, instructions, or “this is the thing” context.
Stale tasks are tasks that have fallen behind. Recurring cadence matters: a weekly task missed for weeks can surface even if its due date was not manually moved.
Yes. Start a classic 25-minute Pomodoro focus session from a task detail screen.
AI and voice
Tap Add, type or speak naturally, and Halves previews the task or batch it understood. You can edit fields before saving.
Yes. Voice capture keeps listening through natural pauses and leaves the transcript editable in the composer before you save.
Yes. AI list expansion can turn a prompt like “pasta night” or “weekend groceries” into editable checklist items.
On supported devices, Apple Intelligence Writing Tools can rewrite, proofread, and summarize in task titles and notes.
Widgets, Siri, Spotlight, Apple Watch
The Lists widget shows actual list contents, not just a count, and lets you check items off from the Home Screen.
Medium and large widgets include an inline add path so you can capture tasks without opening the full app first.
Yes. Halves supports Apple Watch and complications for glanceable task status.
Yes. Halves can index task references on-device so you can find tasks from iPhone Spotlight. Siri and Shortcuts support improved task references too.

Privacy and sync
